Privacy
This policy covers getbty.com and the bty pre-launch waitlist. It does not cover a released mobile app. We will publish an updated policy before an app collects personal information.
Who is responsible
The Privacy Officer for bty is accountable for the personal information described here. bty is operated by 2751629 ALBERTA INC., Suite 1011, 4307-130 Avenue SE, Unit 90, Calgary, AB T2Z 3V8, Canada.
What we collect
- Waitlist information: your email address, the dates you joined and confirmed, your referral code and referral relationship, and which signup button you used. Your queue position is calculated from the waitlist.
- Request and security information: our hosting and form-security providers process normal request information, including IP address, browser information and device signals, to deliver the site and prevent abuse. The form-security service does not receive what you type into the email field through its widget.
- Landing-page activity: page and section views, signup interactions, the design shown to you, visible time and scroll depth. These events use a pseudonymous identifier derived from request information that changes each day. We do not send your email address to the analytics provider.
Why we use it
- To operate the waitlist, confirm your address, calculate your place, and run the referral program.
- To send the launch notice and beta invitation you requested.
- To answer support requests, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure.
- To measure the landing page and compare its two designs.
Your choice
Submitting the waitlist form asks bty to send a confirmation message and, after you confirm, a launch notice and beta invitation. You can withdraw that choice through the unsubscribe link in a bty email. Site delivery, security and the design-selection cookie are necessary to operate the site.
Service providers and processing outside Canada
We use providers acting on our behalf for the following limited purposes:
- Website delivery, database and security: request information and waitlist records may be processed in Canada and the United States. A global security network may process request metadata near the country from which the site is accessed.
- Email delivery: your email address and the messages sent to it are processed in the United States.
- Landing-page analytics: pseudonymous events are processed in the United States. The provider is instructed not to create a person profile.
bty sends information to these providers only for the purposes above. Information processed outside Canada may be available to courts, law enforcement or national-security authorities under the laws of that country. We may also disclose information when Canadian law requires or permits it. Contact the Privacy Officer for current written information about providers outside Canada.
Cookies
The site sets a first-party design cookie so the same visitor keeps seeing the same design, and a referral cookie after a referral link is followed. Each expires after 30 days. Landing-page analytics does not set a cookie.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here or a legal requirement. We keep the waitlist database record until you unsubscribe or the pre-launch program ends, unless a longer period is required by law. Unsubscribing deletes that record and its related records from the waitlist database. The email-delivery provider may retain the recipient address, message and delivery logs for up to 30 days after a message is sent. Security logs and backups expire under provider retention schedules. Landing-page events are not connected to your waitlist email and are not deleted by the email unsubscribe; their pseudonymous identifier changes daily. Design and referral cookies expire after 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You may withdraw email consent through any bty email. You may also ask the Privacy Officer for access to or correction of your personal information, for information about how it has been used or disclosed, or about providers outside Canada. We may need to verify a request and may retain information when the law permits or requires it. If a concern is not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or, where federal law applies, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity and amount of information we handle. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this policy as bty changes. The effective date above will change when we do. Material changes affecting waitlist members will be communicated where required.
